I usually get my books by borrowing old ones from the library or buying at the thrift store for cheap, but this year I legit purchased either Kindle or hardcovers at market prices, that were published in 2023. Whoa! Normally I would be like what’s the rush, I will save some cheddar and just wait.

But lately, because my half-century mark on this planet is ever approaching, I’ve been ruminating a lot about how life is short. So I was like, f* it — I will just Buy It Now. Enough with this delayed gratification, being a cheapskate nonsense! (Or as my husband whose first language is not English says, “cheapsteak.” Mmmm, steak 😋)

Thus, in this spirit of “hurry up already and just tell us what your favorite books this year were,”¹ here is my list in alphabetical order by title…

All the Demons Are Here

My progress is Only Read the Book Jacket So Far. But I know I will love it cuz it’s by (one of) my boyfriend(s), CNN’s Jake Tapper; and it’s the third book in the Charlie Marder thriller series. The first two books were not only fun reads but hella educational too. This installment promises to be extra groovy since it’s the next generation of Marders and set in the 70s. Yeah, baby!
